Australian Red Cross Development – Kelvin Grove

Hastie Air Conditioning has recently completed a Commercial Building at Kelvin Grove,housing the new Brisbane Operations Centre for the Australian Red Cross Blood Service (ARCBS). This job included fitting out laboratories, cold storage and administration facilities. This building is also partly occupied by QUT and Baulderstone.

ARCBS requires the building to continue functioning for at least 4 days without services connections from the street following a natural disaster and this, combined with Brisbane's water crisis, required an innovative approach to providing cooling. Three PowerPax chillers coupled to Muller 3C coolers were installed to enable cooling to be provided without the need for condenser water supply under emergency situations.
