Thermal Imaging
Thermal imaging is the ultimate in preventative maintenance, and is used by Watters Electrical for identifying possible early failure of electrical systems. Thermal Imaging can detect the heat generated by loose or faulty electrical connections. These faulty connections are reflected as hot spots and are almost always a sign of early failure. If not attended to, these hot spots can result in the worst case scenario- a disastrous fire!
Why should we carry out a thermal imaging survey?
Our thermal camera's infrared ability for early detection of electrical faults, and to determine the severity of problems, enables cost effective servicing of your entire electrical system infrastructure.
Other advantages are:
- It minimizes the risk of electrical downtime
- It creates possible savings on insurance
- It ensures that you are fully aware of the operating condition of all electrical installations on your property.
- It reduces the risk of accidents
- It is a modern proactive approach to maintenance (repair faulty components before they fail entirely)
- It allows for scheduled repairs at low production times
How is it done?
Using our Flir thermacam PM575, we take pictures of your electrical systems. Generally there will be no interruption to your business, (in fact we recommend that we conduct this survey when you are operating at normal to peak load). Our camera allows us to inspect your electrical systems and assign a severity to each problem based on temperature. Using our imagery, we produce a thermographic analysis report which assesses the inherent thermal stability of your electrical systems i.e. materials, switchboards and connections, whilst the equipment is operating at a particular load condition. We will immediately report urgent electrical matters to you.
We thereafter present you with a bound color report (Thermographic Analysis Report), which provides details of any action required. We can also provide your report in an electronic format.
All thermal imaging surveys are conducted by Watters qualified electricians. Should they find an urgent fault, they can fix the problem immediately (with your permission) without the need to call on a third party.
